Sintered Silica Fabrics (96% Sio2)
Sintered (pre-shrunk) siilica fabircs are are used in industrial and aerospace applications that require minimum shrinkage at high temperatures. The areal shrinkage can be as low as 2% at 1000°C. Potential applications include: backing for quartz heaters, tray liners for thermal processing of parts, manufacturing of aerospace insulation parts, and mold release in metal forging.

Description:
Woven silica fabric (also called high-silica fabric / silica cloth) is a high-performance heat-resistant textile woven from high-purity amorphous silica (SiO₂) fibers (typically ≥96% silica content). It is often chosen where standard fiberglass (E-glass) fails due to temperature or chemical exposure. These fabrics can be pre-shrunk to achieve a shrinkage rate of less than 1%.. For appliactions requiring greater thickness, texturized silica fabrics are available in 2.0 mm and 3.0 mm.
Widely used for welding protection, industrial thermal insulation, automotive exhaust heat shields, aerospace components, petrochemical pipeline insulation, steel mill fire safety, electrical high-temperature insulation, and fireproof barriers. It delivers reliable heat resistance, flame retardancy and thermal protection in extreme high-temperature environments.

Core Properties:

Extreme Temperature Resistance
Continuous use: 1000°C (1,800°F)
Short-term / peak: 1,650°C (3,000°F) (does not melt or drip)
Fire & Flame Proof
Non-combustible, does not burn, melt, or support combustion
Thermal & Electrical
Low thermal conductivity (excellent insulation)
Good electrical insulation (dielectric strength)
Chemical & Mechanical
Resists most acids, alkalis, and corrosion
Good flexibility, drapability, and moderate abrasion resistance
Lightweight compared to ceramic/metallic alternatives

Typical Industrial Applications

Welding Protection
Welding blankets, welding curtains, welding pads (spark and molten slag resistance, cut resistant).
Flexible Thermal Insulation
Removable insulation covers for equipment, engine heat shields, exhaust pipe wrapping.
Fire Protection & Flame Retardancy
Fire curtains, smoke baffles, emergency fire blankets.
Sealing & Flexible Connections
Non-metallic expansion joints, flexible connections for high-temperature air ducts.
